antique lace
I attend local estate sales on a regular basis, and sometimes I’m lucky enough to find a lovingly stored box of antique handmade lace – each piece wrapped in a layer of blue tissue paper. Some of these laces are exquisite, and I’ve just teamed up with a lace expert and curator who identifies the lace for me, so specialist collectors can bid with confidence. One of my most recent discoveries was a large lot that included an 18th century Point de Gaze wedding handkerchief, several perfect lengths of 18th century Brussels Flanders needle lace, Alencon lace, Point de France needle lace and several Honiton lace collars.
