cushions made antique & vintage textiles
Although the printed and dated German grain sacks from the 19th century are increasingly difficult to find, they do make absolutely stunning cushions, and occasionally I have these for sale. Antique linen and hemp tea towels, with their lovely nubby texture and wonderful “old red” stripes and monograms also make great cushions, especially mixed with others made from vintage mattress ticking, or cabbage rose linen. I always use vintage and antique buttons to close my cushions on the reverse – often mismatched, but similarly sized – and hand sewn buttonholes of course!
